Dawn was born in Staunton to C.Q. Dofflemyer Sr. and Patricia Louise Dofflemyer on February 11th, 1969. She went to school at Wilson Memorial High School, graduating in 1987. Dawn worked production at Hershey for 26 years and will be missed by everyone who knew or worked with her. She will be remembered for having a heart of gold and a deep love of animals, frequently getting in trouble as a child for bringing small animals home. She was a great mother who loved her children dearly and was a hard worker. Dawn enjoyed flowers and the country scenery as she drove her Jeep. She also had a strong Christian upbringing and loved Jesus.
Dawn is preceded in death by her father, CQ; as well as a daughter, Trisha Coyner; a sister, Selina Dofflemyer; a niece, Sarah Cloonan; and a great niece, Ava Cloonan.
Dawn is survived by her beloved husband, Philip Carter II; her son, Dylan Coyner; and her mother, Patricia Dofflemyer. She is also survived by her siblings, C.Q. Dofflemyer Jr and wife Jo of Waynesboro, Terry Cloonan and husband Steve of Waynesboro, Mark Dofflemyer of Waynesboro, and Lisa Baugh and husband Kenny of Hot Springs; as well as her mother-in-law Mae Carpenter and grandmother-in-law, Mrs. Carter. In addition, Dawn is survived by her sister-in-law Ginny Chandler and husband Clay; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, including special uncle, Daniel Carter. She also had a valued work family at Hershey, to include Martha Boyd, Karen Hanger and Michelle Keiser. Lastly, she is survived by her canine “fur babies” Diesel, Asher and Pepper.
A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, April 25th, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Victory Worship Center in Staunton, with Daniel Carter officiating.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 24th from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
