Dorothy Lois (Jones) Walters, 90, of Stuarts Draft passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the Shenandoah Hospice House, Fishersville.

Born May 9, 1934 in Floyd County, VA she was a daughter of the late Costly Crosby and Mary Ella (Epperly) Jones. On February 14, 1980 she married Nelson Walters. The two shared 44 years of wonderful marriage together.

Dorothy’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her sons and grandchildren. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and cooking for her family. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Albert Dean Gardner, Gary Grey Gardner, and William “Bill” Gardner.

Survivors include her loving husband, Nelson Walters of Stuarts Draft; two sons, Bernie Gardner and wife, Kathy, of Stuarts Draft, and Wendell Gardner and wife, Teresa of Waynesboro; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at Stuarts Draft Mennonite Cemetery, Stuarts Draft.

There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
