Jerry Lee Bennett

Jerry Lee Bennett, 67, of Raphine passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Syracuse, New York on February 4, 1951, a son of the late Leo O. Bennett and Marion C. Whitmore.

Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded many medals. He worked for 12 years with the city of Pasadena and eight years for the city of Waynesboro. Jerry was a true gearhead from birth. He was a great and loving husband, father and friend.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert James Bennett; brother, Terry Bennett; friend, Virgil McCoy; as well as some of his beloved pets.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Tashia Marie Bennett; son, Christopher Lee Bennett and wife, Crystal of Raphine; brother, Larry Bennett of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Nolan Isaiah, Ezra James, and Kaylee Lynn Bennett; friends, Popeye Gibson, Randal Gibson and his girlfriend, Rachel; mother-in-law, Glenda Shifflett and partner, Robert Morris; brother-in-law, Chris Tate and wife, Brenda; niece, Kristia Tate; nephew, Alex Tate; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Jerry also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Casper, Sweetheart, Floppsy, Brutus, Little Man, Precious, Artie, BooBoo and Jerry.

Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.

A graveside service with military honors will follow after the visitation at Pines Chapel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 3204 Cold Springs Rd, Greenville, Virginia 24440.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jerry’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
