Michael George Doty

Michael G. Doty, 73, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, claimed the promise of the resurrection on August 18, 2019 at Augusta Health.
Michael was born in Muncie, Indiana to Myron and Martha (Pat) Doty on July 7, 1946. He went to Yorktown High School in Arlington, VA. He married Terry on June 10, 1967 in Radford, Virginia. He graduated with honors from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
After graduation he worked on several space programs as an Engineer.
At the Manned Spacecraft Center in Clear Lake City, TX he was part of the Apollo 8 thru Apollo 12 Lunar landings. Later, he worked for Lockheed Martin in Denver, CO and was part of the Mars Viking Lander program. The last 22 years of his career he was program director of space systems at Northrup Grumman near Baltimore, MD.
While living in the Denver area he was very active in the Masonic Lodge and became Master of the Lodge in 1981.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Terry; son, Mark Doty and wife, Laura Doty of Stuarts Draft; daughter, Pam Bolig and husband, John Bolig of Kenmore, WA; three grandchildren, Hannah Doty, Ethan Doty and Emma Bolig.
Following a private graveside service, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 260 Stuarts Draft, Virginia 24477.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
