
Born June 9, 1930 in Augusta County, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Fannie (Hall) Dameron. On May 25, 1991 he married Doris Harris. The two shared 31 wonderful years of marriage together.
Prior to retirement, Ray was employed by Jim Snead Ford and later Paul Obaugh Ford where he worked as a body shop manager. Ray was a U.S. veteran having served his country honorably with the Army and rising to the rank of Corporal. Being artistically inclined, he was a talented artist and an avid collector and restorer of vintage toys. As an avid outdoorsman, he greatly enjoyed gardening. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Fitzgerald; and four brothers, Donnie, Dick, Bill, and Bob Dameron.
He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Harris Dameron of Stuarts Draft; son, Eric Dameron of Fairborn, OH; brother, Ronnie Dameron and wife, Debbie of Stuarts Draft; three stepchildren he loved as his own, Barbara Pennington and husband, Larry, of Stuarts Draft, Melinda Reid and husband, Chris, of Staunton, and Timmy Wilt and wife, Dawn of Waynesboro; a special daughter, Karol Dameron of Fort Monroe, VA; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Stuarts Draft Mennonite Cemetery, 216 Howardsville Turnpike, Stuarts Draft with Pastor Ronnie Harris and Pastor Kevin Harris officiating. All who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
