

He was born March 23, 1949, a son of the late Robert Eugene and Leah Elizabeth (Harris) Benson.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Benson.
Robbie was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Waynesboro and retired from Conway Southern Express Trucking. He logged over 40 years in the trucking industry and served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping and Dodge motor vehicles. His three special things in his life were his grandchildren, his K-9 companion Onyx and he loved the Lord.
Survivors include his wife Malissa Tidd Benson; son, Robert Jason Benson and wife, Amber; daughter, Heather Campbell and husband, Ryan; sisters, Beverly Benson, Brenda Michie; grandchildren, Hailey Benson, Mason Campbell and Preston Campbell. He also leaves a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, a special “brother” Charlie McThenia and wife, Laura, and extraordinary neighbors, John and Jillian Kirkpatrick.
He also leaves his brothers in law Wayne Tidd and wife Chun, Thomas Tidd and Alvin Tidd and wife Leigh Ann.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the Waynesboro Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor A.J. Groschel officiating.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at his residence of 5445 South River Rd., Vesuvius.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to the American Cancer Association.
