Dylan Remley of Sudbury, MA passed away peacefully on October 25th at his home after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
Born on September 2, 1969 to Larry and Alana Remley, Dylan was the oldest of four boys. He grew up in East Lyme, CT and went to Trinity College in Hartford, CT. At Trinity he would meet his wife, Melissa, whom he married in 1998. A three-sport athlete growing up, Dylan became an accomplished high school and collegiate rower and competed in regattas across the United States, Canada, and the UK. The work ethic, dedication, and commitment to teamwork that made Dylan an excellent rower would be defining characteristics that made him a friend and role model to so many.
After graduating from Trinity in 1991, Dylan attended New York University Law School and spent time as a corporate attorney in New York and Connecticut before ultimately taking on an executive management role at Global Partners LP in Waltham, MA, where he has worked for the past 12 years. With the move to Massachusetts, Dylan and Melissa settled in Sudbury where they focused on raising their four children. Always civic minded, Dylan had served on the YMCA board in Westport, CT, the Sudbury zoning board, and coached numerous youth sports teams, including football, soccer, and wrestling.
Dylan is survived by his wife, Melissa, who meant the world to him, his four teenage children, Matter, Sabrina, Alex, and Kellen, that completed the rest of his world, his brothers, Allen (Dana), Micah (Katie), and Evan (Elaine), his mother, Alana Remley, sister-in-law Giselle Landers (Sean), and numerous nieces and nephews to which Uncle Dylan was a beloved figure and amazing role model in their lives.
Dylan’s unique ability to balance work, family, friends, and, more recently, cancer treatments – while always putting others before himself - was an absolute inspiration to everyone that knew him.
Visiting hours will be held at the Duckett-Waterman Funeral Home in Sudbury, MA on Saturday, October 30th from 2:00 – 5:00 pm.
