
Page, Edward Crozer, Jr., 92, passed away on September 2, 2012 at home in Chestnut Hill, MA of complications of Parkinson's disease. He was born in Bryn Mawr, PA on November 14, 1919 to Edward C. Page and Elizabeth Griffith Page. He attended St. Paul's School in Concord, NH and graduated from Princeton University in 1942, Phi Beta Kappa with highest honors in chemical engineering. Ned married Barbara Benson Jefferys in 1943, shortly after enlisting in the US Navy. He was radar officer on the submarine USS Cavalla for war patrols in the Pacific. He continued active duty in the US Naval Reserves until resigning in 1955 with the rank of Lieutenant. After serving in World War II, Ned returned to Princeton for a master's degree in chemical engineering. He began his career at Dupont and retired from his position as Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Polaroid in 1967. After a devasting mid-career hearing loss, Ned became an ardent advocate for the hearing impaired. He served as president of the Boston Guild for the Hard of Hearing for 15 years. Ned took up running around age 50. He ran the Boston Marathon even after open heart surgery. He also enjoyed rowing and choral singing.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara and three children; Barbara Page in Trumansburg, NY, Carol Pierce in Portland, Maine, and Edward Crozer Page III in Waltham. He is also survived by three grandchildren and five great grandchildren,and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Robert G. Page and his sister, Mary Page Sears. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, at 3:00 pm at Newton Cemetery Chapel, 791 Walnut St., Newton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sierra Club www.sierraclub.org For
