

Edward L. Rutkowski, 88 of Charlton, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 28, 2017. His wife of 57 years, Jean (Rosko) Rutkowski, died in 2014. He leaves his four children; a son Edward Rutkowski and his wife, June, of Wesley Chapel, FL; a daughter Deborah Bordage and her husband, Paul, of Auburn, MA; a daughter Karen Nagle of Haydenville, MA; a son William Rutkowski and his wife, Ann, of Palmer, MA; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He leaves two sisters Helen Nagot of Milford CT and Gladys Curran of Stamford CT, sister-in-law, Hildegard Rosko of The Villages FL and nieces and nephews.
Edward served 10 years in the Navy before transferring to the Coast Guard where he served 15 ½ years before retiring in 1971. He retired from the Waterford CT school system in 1989.
Edward enjoyed cruising and polka dancing with his wife. He loved fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who always put a big smile on his face.
The family would like to thank the VA for all the extra attention our father received throughout the years; the nurses and aides at Odd Fellows Home and Overlook Post Acute Rehab. The family also extends their gratitude to the Kindred at Home for being so kind and making sure our dad was comfortable in his final days.
The funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 1 pm at St. Roch's Church, 334 Main Street, Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch Cemetery.
