Gerald Joseph “Jerry” Sevigny, Jr., 59, of Millbury and formerly of Lowell, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after a courageous battle with cancer, his loving companion by his side.
Jerry was born in Lowell on August 7, 1958, a son of Gerald and Adelaide C. (Jardine) Sevigny. During his youth, he was a gifted athlete who excelled in diving, ice hockey, and baseball. He then served in the United Sates Army in the Panama Canal Zone and was a proud Waterborne River Raider. For the remainder of his life, he worked primarily as a self-employed contractor in the construction business. A brilliant storyteller, generous and loyal friend, and deeply loving man, he will be greatly missed by his friends near and far, who became his extended family and support system.
He is survived by his children, Thomas Sevigny of NH, Erin Fuller of MA, Stephanie Trainor of MA, and George Porter of AZ; siblings, Robin Cayer of Coconut Creek, FL, Patty Ouellette of Dracut, MA; companion, Erin Young and her children Logan and Caitlin, who he loved as his own, all of North Grafton. He also leaves many special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and his beloved beagle, Sparky. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Ann Durand.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
