She attended school at Mount St. Joseph Academy, Regis College and Framingham State University. Joan was a teacher at Framingham South High School but spent most of her career teaching math and computer science at Algonquin Regional High School.
Joan was passionate about her family, teaching, traveling and cooking. She loved baking, especially for her grandchildren, who regularly received “care packages” while they were off at school. She sent lots of banana bread to her son living in Florida to be sure he got a regular taste of home. Joan was “mom" to everyone who knew her and no one could visit her without her offering up a meal or desserts. She love to see the satisfied smiles on their faces.
She loved animals and loved to indulge her favorite dogs; Maddie, Zoey, and Bo with greenies and doggie treats. It made her very happy to see them dance around in anticipation. And she was never happier than when they’d fall asleep beside her.
Maine was a favorite travel destination, even after seeing many wonderful sites worldwide, Boothbay Harbor, Maine was always a treat to visit.
In addition to her parents, Joan is preceded in death by her beloved husband Malcolm A. MacLeod Jr. to whom she was married for 56 years.
She is survived by her cherished sons Malcolm A. MacLeod III and wife Tracy of Franklin, MA, Raymond MacLeod of Boca Raton, FL, John MacLeod of Framingham, MA and daughter Joanne MacLeod of Newton, MA. Joan is also survived by her granddaughter Brittany Gambardella, her husband Eric and great granddaughter Sophia of West Hartford, CT and grandson Cameron of Blackstone, MA.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 20th at St. Bridget Church, 830 Worcester Road, Framingham at 10:00 a.m.
