Joseph Peter Izzo Jr., 82, a former resident of Providence RI and Litchfield, NH, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 31, 2025 in his current hometown of Sudbury, MA. Born on June 29, 1943, in Providence, RI, Joe was the youngest child of the late Joseph and Laura (Gambardella) Izzo.
Joe was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and continued his education at The Franklin Institute of Technology in Boston. He began his career in sales at G. Fred Swanson Inc. in Providence, RI. Joe’s years of hard work and dedication were rewarded, when the Board of Directors appointed him Vice President of the company.
In 1984 he moved his family to Litchfield, New Hampshire to continue his career in sales at HCI Craftsman Inc. in Nashua, NH. After enjoying life and work in NH, HCI Craftsmen relocated Joe to their office in Charolotte, North Carolina. Joe and his wife Carol remained in NC until his retirement in 2007. While in retirement they returned to NH and divided their time between NH and Florida, eventually becoming full time residents of Florida.
In his free time, Joe loved playing cards and really enjoyed the game of golf. Spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, helping with carpools, watching their sporting events, or playing golf with them, brought him so much pleasure. He was also an incredible handyman.
Throughout his life, Joe enjoyed the company of his many friends and neighbors from Stage Crossing in Litchfield, NH and Alameda Isles in Englewood, FL.
He was a devoted husband, incredible father, wonderful grandfather and a generous friend to all who knew him.
Joe leaves behind his cherished wife of 59 years, Carol (Savastano). Her devotion to him has been unparalleled and his love for her was endless. Joe also leaves his beloved daughter Terrie (Izzo) Hallal and son in-law David Hallal of Sudbury, MA. He was extremely proud of and cherished the family they created, demonstrating his unconditional love for them always. He was an adored grandfather to Jonathan, Nicholas, Jack and Stella the dog. They were Joe’s pride and joy, and he always loved the time they spent together. He was an admired brother-in-law to Samuel Savastano of Rumford, RI and Debbie Maloney of Cranston, RI. He is also survived by many nephews, a niece, cousins and friends.
Joe is predeceased by his sister, Norma (Izzo) Peck of Providence, RI and brother, Anthony J. Izzo of Akron, Ohio.
The Izzo/Hallal families extend heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers from Visiting Angels, Morgan and Emily from Care Dimensions and private caregiver Doreen for their compassionate support.
We find comfort in knowing that Dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at St. Anselm’s Church, 100 Landham Road, Sudbury, MA. 01776. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited for a visitation in the church at 10AM.
