

Joseph Peter Lettery Sr., 90, passed away on November 16, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Somerville, MA on April 14, 1935 to Frank and Mary (Lucciano) Lettery.
A graduate of Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School where he was a sports team captain. He was a proud veteran serving 8 years in the US Army, Seargent 1st Class, National Guard where he also trained as a chef proudly serving the troops.
Joe’s introduction to flowers began as a young boy working for his Uncle George Lettery, his fathers’ brother, (who came to this country from Italy in 1890) at his greenhouses. He started the family business Letteri’s Sudbury Flower Shoppe which his parents continued to run for many years. He holds a degree in Floral Design as well as an Associate’s Degree. He started work as a produce clerk for Star Market quickly working his way up to produce manager then transitioned to Purity Supreme where he worked for many years as a produce supervisor, flower and produce buyer for the entire chain of supermarkets. He won many awards for his marketing skills and produce displays winning many contests which allowed him to travel with his wife. He was featured almost every month on the cover of Produce Merchandising Magazine where he was a regular contributor innovating many produce marketing and storing techniques to preserve and ship produce.
Joe prided himself in his gardening skills, planting extensive gardens every year and enjoyed hunting pheasant, duck, and deer in his early years when there was no money for meat. He was a sports team lover watching every game to the end. Everyone who knew him would say what a great sense of humor he had, he loved a good joke and was always the life of the party. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife Jacqueline Rose Lettery; his sons Joseph Lettery Jr, Frank Lettery III, daughter Lisa (Lettery) Benson, son in law Bob Benson, grandson Joseph Lettery III, his siblings, Theresa Letteri, Frank Letteri Jr., George Letteri and Elizabeth (Letteri) Ferrante and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Duckett Funeral Home, located at 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, MA, 01776, on November 30, 2025, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
A funeral mass will be held at St. George Church, 74 School St, Framingham, MA, 01701 on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe's memory to the Sudbury Police and Fire Department, The VNA and The Sudbury Senior Center.
