Lillian Frances White Balch, a resident of Sudbury, MA, passed away on September 13, 2022 at the age of 93. Lillian was born in Boston on June 8, 1929, the daughter of Herbert F. and Clara A. (Wright) White. She graduated from Girls High School, Boston in 1949. She would go on to receive an undergraduate degree from the Boston University School of Public Relations in 1956 and a Master’s Degree from the Boston College School of Social Work in 1976.
Lillian married Donald H. Balch on 22 February, 1957 and together they had one son. Lillian is survived by her son Gareth Balch, Daughter-in-law Julie, and Granddaughters Molly, Alyssa, and Kyra of Kenosha WI; Cousin, Carol A. Clark of Marlboro MA; and family and friends throughout the New England area.
During her life Lillian worked tirelessly to promote social welfare and civil rights, professionally as a certified social worker and personally through her work with numerous social service organizations. She moved to Sudbury in 1964 and had a special affection for the community, participating in many town organizations including The Sudbury Human Rights Council and The Sudbury Historic Society.
Visitation will be held at 09:00 AM on Friday October 7th at Duckett Funeral Home in Sudbury, with service at 10:30, followed by burial at Wadsworth Cemetery in Sudbury.
