

Malcolm loved with his mother and father in West Roxbury and Roslindale, MA, until he was eight years old. They moved to Mayflower Road in Needham where he attended grammar, junior and senior high school. He played tennis and was on the school team. He also was a photographer for the high school newspaper.
He attended MIT and graduated in 1955 with a degree in Physics. He did graduate study at Carnegie Tech, Boston College and Brandeis where he earned his Master’s degree in Physics.
He worked in Cambridge for Baird Atomic for a few years. Most of his professional life was spent as a physicist for the U. S. Air Force. He wrote several professional papers during his career as a civilian employee. One of his more interesting assignments was the upper atmosphere rocket experiments he conducted at Hudson’s Bay, Canada.
On October 31, 1959, he was married to Joan Connell. They were happily married for 56 years. He was proud of his children’s accomplished but most of all he was content when they were happy.
Malcolm retired in 1997 and enjoyed a happy retirement including a 7 week trip to New Foundland and Labrador with Joan and a 10 week drive across the Northern U.S. and the return trip across Southern Canada from British Columbia to Ontario.
He loved to go to Maine and stayed at Ocean Point Inn.
He met a colleague every Tuesday for lunch. He always looked forward to lunch with Frank and especially the ride for ice cream after lunch.
Malcolm is survived by his beloved spouse Joan (Connell), his sons Malcolm A. MacLeod, III and his wife Tracy of Franklin, MA, Raymond MacLeod of Hollywood, FL, John MacLeod of Framingham, MA and daughter Joanne MacLeod of Shelton, CT. Malcolm is also survived by his granddaughter Brittany and grandson Cameron.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, June 20, at St. Bridget Church, 830 Worcester Road, Framingham at 9:00 AM.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 19, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Duckett - J.S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Rd., Rt. 20, Sudbury. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Interment will be at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Restore Our Church Campaign 2, 15 Wheeler Ave., Framingham MA 01702 or to a charity of one’s choice.
