

Marie was born to teacher Emily Hruby Wall and attorney Thomas Joseph Wall II and enjoyed an active childhood in Baldwin, Long Island. After moving to New York City and attending Packard Junior College, she met the love of her life, scientist George Harrison Grant. They married in 1952 and she worked as an executive secretary to Special Representative at IBM World Headquarters for 10 years. She proceeded to earn a B.A. in Art History from Northeastern University where she graduated as a member of the Sigma Epsilon Rho Honor society in 1976, and additionally earned a M.A. in Education with a concentration in Art History from Assumption College in 1980. Her avid interest in Art History compelled her to constantly pursue educational ventures through the Worcester Art Museum, DeCordova Museum, MFA and ICA in Boston, as well as Wellesley College. Marie worked as a docent at the Jewett Art Museum at Wellesley College and the Worcester Art Museum, where she studied under the active curator, and went on to become a lecturer at the Fitchburg Art Museum. Her passions included reading, collecting antiques, volunteering, and caring for her beloved dogs.
Marie is preceded in death by her husband George Harrison Grant, sister Ursula Wall (Lawrence Clymer) Pitman, and brother Thomas J. Wall III, Esq. She is lovingly survived by Beverly J. Wall, nieces Kelly (John) Lawson, Catherine Wall, Cheryl Wall, Laura "Peach" Reid, Nancy G. Nastri (James), Heather E. Reid, (deceased niece Cynthia R. Mihalik), and nephew Thomas J. (Renee) Wall IV. She is lovingly survived by grand nieces Casey L. Fettes, Christina G. Nastri, and Jennifer L. Hirshorn as well as grand nephews Shaun D. Fettes, Anthony R. Nastri and John S. Mihalik.
Private services will be held, and Marie will be laid to rest in the family plot at New North Cemetery in Sudbury, MA.
