Ronald Curtis Glover, Esq. was born on December 4, 1951 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the second of three children born to the late Albert Glover, Jr. and the late Elizabeth Shirley (Samuda) Glover, and raised by his loving grandparents, Nicola (Powell) Samuda and Arthur Samuda. Ronald Glover made his transition from this life to Heaven on Thursday June 16, 2016 at age 64.
Ronald lived most of his life in Massachusetts, but his work also required him to live in Connecticut and New York, while maintaining his primary residence in Massachusetts. Ron Glover traveled the world, visiting every continent, several countries, and experiencing the beauty this world had to offer. Through these experiences, he was a friend, mentor, sage, prayer warrior and confidant to everyone who crossed his path, and was everything to those who knew and loved him.
Ronald graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Danvers, Massachusetts in 1969. Upon graduation, he began his undergraduate studies that fall, at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. While matriculating, he participated in the Transitional Year Program (now Myra Kraft TYP). Additionally, he was the first African-American student to be elected Student Body President of the Student Council, served on the board for Students for a Democratic Society in protest of the Vietnam War, and participated in several other organizations. Glover graduated from Brandeis University with a Bachelors degree in Political Science in May 1973. After graduating from Brandeis University, and during law school, Glover worked as a sales representative for AT&T.
During his freshman year at Brandeis, Ronald met his college sweetheart and the love of his life, Gail (Corbin). On August 3, 1974, Ronald and Gail were married in Boston, Massachusetts. Their 41-year union blessed the happy and loving couple with three beautiful daughters, Nicola, Camille, and Corinn, who were affectionately referred to by extended family as “The Glover Girls.”
Following the birth of his eldest daughter in January, Ronald graduated from Suffolk University Law School in May 1978. Ronald Glover passed the Massachusetts Bar on the first attempt, and was also sworn into the Federal Bar. Ron began his legal career, and between 1978-1982, he served as a Senior Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Labor in the Office of the Solicitor. Ronald then moved on to the Legal Department at Digital Equipment Corporation, where he worked as Corporate Legal Counsel, and was promoted to HR, later holding a variety of HR management and executive positions. Ron served as Vice President, HR, Global IT Outsourcing at Compaq Computer after Compaq acquired Digital. Next, he served as Vice President, HR at i2 Technologies, before joining IBM in 2003. At IBM, Ron Glover served as the Vice President, HR, Integrated Supply Chain, and subsequently became Vice President, HR, IBM Global Services-Americas (and Global Vice President of Diversity), until he retired in 2014.
Mr. Glover was a member of several organizations and boards, including the Brandeis Alumni Board; the Society of Human Resource Managers and the New England Human Resource Association, and was a founding member of both the Conference Board’s Council on Workforce Diversity and the New England Labor Council; the Massachusetts Bar; and a former board member for the Turning Point Halfway House, to name a few. Along with other Brandeis alumni, Ronald Glover helped form the Joseph D. Warren Endowed Scholarship, and was also active in fundraising for the Transitional Year Program Scholarship Fund at Brandeis University. Additionally, Ronald served as a guest lecturer and author for the Conference Board, Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Suffolk University’s Continuing Legal Education Organization and a former adjunct professor of business and labor law at Northeastern University in Massachusetts. He also completed programs from Harvard University’s Executive MBA program and Carnegie Mellon University. Ronald Glover’s Christian foundation came from his membership at Union United Methodist Church in Boston as a child. As an adult, Ron was an active member of Greater Framingham Community Church (GFCC), serving as a Deacon and participating in the Men’s Christian Fellowship, GFCC Men’s Fellowship Golf Scholarship, leading bible study, feeding the homeless, and helping those who were transitioning from incarceration.
In spite of his immense academic, civic, personal and professional accomplishments, Ronald Curtis Glover never met a stranger and loved all kinds of people. No one was unimportant to him. He was everyone’s friend, father and mentor. He was a Master at giving, and constantly prayed for others. Even though he worked long hours and traveled extensively, he was never too busy to show up for those he loved, to offer a listening ear, or a word of advice to friends, colleagues, and loved ones. His advice always helped empower others to achieve their goals. His favorite days included golfing with friends, reading great books on the beaches of Martha’s Vineyard, playing chess or bid whist, traveling, doing all things science and technology related, including building a computer from scratch, spending time with family and friends, mentoring other professionals and his church family, serving his community, exercising and listening to a good story on NPR.
He will be missed by everyone who knew him and whose hearts he touched around the world.
Ronald Curtis Glover leaves behind to cherish his tremendous legacy, his loving wife of 41 years, Gail Glover; his three daughters, Nicola (Chad) Glover Horton, Camille Glover, and Corinn Glover; two siblings, a sister, Jean Glover and a brother, Mark Glover; three grandchildren, Amani, Grayson, and Noah; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family, friends and colleagues.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 12PM at the Greater Framingham Community Church, 44 Franklin Street, Framingham. Interment will be private.
Calling hours will precede the service from 10AM-12PM at the church.
