Born December 13, 1924, in Rochester, NY, she was the daughter of Ralph Westcott and Ruth Weston (Alden) Lester. She graduated from Bryn Mawr College and went on to earn a Master’s degree from Columbia University.
Ruth was a former resident of Manhattan, NY, Northport, NY, and Tenafly, NJ, before settling in Lincoln, MA 29 years ago. She enjoyed spending time with her family at her summer home on Lovell Lake in Sanbornville, NH. Ruth was a generous woman; she was recognized for the countless hours she volunteered at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx and the Garden in the Woods in Framingham, MA.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Nastuk-Zackin and her husband Michael of Sudbury; two sons, John Nastuk and his wife Karen of Danvers, William Nastuk of New Rochelle, NY; four grandchildren, Katherine Roose and her husband Robert of Lake Oswego, OR, Benjamin Zackin of Arlington, David Nastuk of Arlington, Eric Nastuk of Danvers; one great-grandchild, William Roose; and her faithful feline companion, Patrick.
She was predeceased by her husband, William L. Nastuk, in 1986 after over 35 years of marriage.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at a later date. Interment in Englewood, NJ, will be private.
