

Suhasini was a resident of Framingham and Sudbury, Massachusetts for over 50 years. Suhasini was born in Hyderabad, India and is the daughter of the late Mr. Vishwanath S. Naik and Mrs. Lalithabai Naik of Hyderabad, India.
Beloved wife to the late Dr. K. Ananth (“Nanu”) Narayan her husband of 53 years, who was her partner in family and life. Devoted mother to her son Mr. Krishna Narayan and his wife Mrs. Sherrie L. Narayan of Maui, Hawaii; and her daughter Ms. Sheila Narayan of Burlington, Massachusetts. Cherished grandmother of Ms. Alexa L. Narayan of San Francisco, California. Caring sister of Mr. Veerendra (“Duke”) Naik of Winter Park, Florida; Mrs. Vilasini (“Rani”) Bal of Tucson, Arizona; Mrs. Tejaswini (“Rajkumari”) Ogale of Beaumont, Texas; and preceded in death by her siblings Mrs. Kumudini (“Kumud”) Mudholkar of Mumbai, India; Mrs. Sarojini (“Saroj”) Chitnavis of London, England; Mr. Narendra (“Kumar”) Naik of Pune, India; Mrs. Deviyani (“Devi”) Ramchandran of Reston Virgina; and Mr. Arvind Naik of Hyderabad, India.
While in India, studying at the Stanley Girls High School and later at Nizam College, she took a keen interest in social service by volunteering to help the impoverished, raising money for food and medicine, and then delivering both to people in need. She was a volunteer during the First Congress Elections in 1952 assisting the Congress Candidates in canvassing and helping uneducated people in voting. While active in social work, she met various dignitaries including Ms. Helen Keller; Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, first lady of the United State to President Franklin D. Roosevelt; and Mr. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.
Suhasini and her husband were the definition of the American dream. They immigrated to the United States, worked extremely hard, built a new life without looking back, and became naturalized citizens. Suhasini and her husband were part of a group of initial founders and supporters of the New England Hindu Temple in Ashland, Massachusetts.
Suhasini enjoyed reading; playing iPad games; watching YouTube videos; placing wagers on the Kentucky Derby; cheering on the New England Patriots and Boston Celtics; painting in both oil and watercolor; listening to many genres of music; traveling around the United States and to many countries around the world; preparing authentic “Full Indian Meals” from scratch; and knitting and crocheting.
During the last 15 years she knit or crocheted over 100 scarfs and doilies for the residents of Orchard Hill Assisted Living, Sudbury, Massachusetts; over 100 hats for babies at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital; and over 100 baby blankets for family, friends, and colleagues.
Suhasini was a gentle courageous soul who was loved by many people. She served as the matron to her extended family and often provided counsel to many who sought her advice on finance, love, children, relationships, and careers. She exuded kindness, love and selflessness, and was always smiling. She remained positive even under the most challenging health situations.
Suhasini earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Botany from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. Suhasini was a technician at Nutrition Labs in Hyderabad, India, and the Carle Clinic Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. She worked with her husband as a research technician at the Burnsides Research Laboratory at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, where she was named as a co-author on several scientific papers. For twenty years she worked at Sears Roebuck & Company, Natick, Massachusetts in retail sales, data entry, and human resources.
