

William Oscar Holleman, age 88, died peacefully at Grace Rehabilitation Center in Vero Beach, FL on August 8, 2012. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 34 years, Margaret Coburn Holleman, and survived by his wife of 23 years, Barbara (“Bobby”) Atkinson Holleman. He is also survived by his sons, Christopher Holleman and his wife Deirdre of Arlington, VA; and Charles Holleman and his wife Pamela of Carlisle, MA.; as well as grandchildren Sydney and Charles Jr. Bill graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1945 where he acquired a degree in business administration and embarked on a sales career that lead him to the chemical industry and starting up Monson Chemicals in 1965. This was the first business he began with long time friend and business partner, Oscar Larson. Monson began as a chemical distributor, and its expansion lead to the start up of another new company that through a unique patented process manufactured additives for the plastics industry in Leominster, MA; and the acquisition of the Uni-gard Corp, a company that produced heat transfer fluids and windshield washer fluid. Bill was a lifelong fan of UNH football, and endowed the University of New Hampshire with the William O. Holleman football scholarship. He was a member of the Chemist Club of New York City. He was President of the Treasure Coast Jazz society of Vero Beach, FL for a number of years and he helped produce its series of concerts and music scholarship program. He loved to play golf at every opportunity and was a member of the Weston Golf Club and the Mooring Golf Club of Vero Beach, Florida. A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, August 16, at 10:00 AM at St. Julia Church, 374 Boston Post Rd., Weston. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 15, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Duckett-J.S.Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Rd., Rt. 20, Sudbury. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wayland.
