Altaima Alexandria McGowan

August 7, 1931- August 14, 2025

McGowan, Altaima, of Mahwah, NJ passed away on August 14, 2025, at the age of 94, surrounded by her family. Born in Jamaica, W.I., Altaima was a chef for many years in Jamaica and the U.S. As we think back on your long life of sacrifice, love, laughter, and strength, we are grateful for all of the memories you have left us with and the legacy that remains of your strong faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord. As your family and friends, may we remember the lessons we have learned in the moments you were beside each of us. Who can forget your famous peach cobbler, baked ziti, and other delicious dishes you spoiled us with. She will be dearly missed by: Icilin Senior (daughter), Dwight Senior (grandson) and Donna Davis (girlfriend), Amanda Senior (granddaughter), Howard Gayle (brother), Dorette McGhie (sister), and Advira McKenzie (sister), as well as may dear friends who she considered to be family. Psalm 91:1 “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty”. Altaima McGowan’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025 at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home 177 Rt. 59, Suffern, NY 10901. Friends and family may call at the funeral home to pay their respects from 10:00-11:30 am, with a memorial service to follow.
