Donald D. Davies

Davies, Donald D., 86, passed away on January 21, 2016. Born in Bronx, NY on October 24, 1929, he resided in Airmont, NY until his death. He served in the Army of the United States from 1949 to his honorable discharge in 1953. He was a Systems Analyst with the New York Telephone Company until his retirement in 1989. Beloved husband of Therese, née Dunn, devoted father of Donna Cioffi and her husband Vincent, of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ; Cathy Davies and her fiancé Donald Braun, of Washingtonville, NY; and Sandra Wissell and her fiancé David Richan, of Manhattan. He was predeceased by his son, David Andrew. Adored grandfather to Kyle Paolucci and his wife Melissa, Christopher, Daniel, and Eric Cioffi, Taylor Vidal and his fiancée Emily, and Lucas and Olivia Wissell. Loving brother to Carlton “Buddy” Davies and his wife Annie, Sandra Parks and her husband George, and Linda Bloom and her husband David. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, to whom he was known as “handsome uncle Don.” An enthusiastic and affectionate family man, Don lived his life to the fullest. He loved a good game of golf—and had a sense of humor about his skills. He professed to be a much better bowler. He was an avid barbecuer and baker, and had mastered the art of the perfect Bloody Mary. He loved classical music and could often be heard playing his mandolin. He was a man who wore many hats—literally: he had an enviable collection of hats, earning him the endearing moniker “Professor” from the staff at Ramapo Manor Nursing Home. He was also a loyal “Metsies” fan (the Mets), much to the chagrin of his son-in-law and grandchildren. Always gentle and kind, Don had a gift for making everyone around him feel special. He said little and listened well, but was always ready with a clever joke. Don loved animals, especially his dog Wolf and his cat Fiona.
