

Elva Jump Mumma, 93, passed away peacefully at her home in Oakland, NJ, on Wednesday, August 18, 2010. Born in Newark, NJ, and raised in Suffern, NY, Elva worked as a receptionist at Seagrams and Hazeltine and as a story researcher at Terrytoons before retiring to become a devoted wife and mother. She was the beloved wife of Harries A. Mumma, and cherished mother to son, Noel, who both predeceased her, and is survived by her daughter, Christine, and sons Gregory and Hilary. She is also survived by eight grandchildren.Elva had a passion for the theater that started at Suffern High School, and upon graduation, was a founding member of the still-thriving Antrim Players of Suffern. She was a member of the Suffern High School girls basketball team, and showed horses at the Ramapo Riding Academy. She then studied fashion design at the Fashion Academy in Manhattan, where she also worked as a model. Elva loved animals, music and the seashore, and passed on the enjoyment of these interests to her children and grandchildren. There will be a private Memorial Visitation at the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home in Suffern on Saturday, September 4th, followed by a Memorial Service and Interment at The Brick Church and Cemetery in Spring Valley.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the National Foundation for Animal Rescue (NFFAR), PO Box 565, Saddle River, NJ 07458, or online at www.nffar.org.
