Emile Jean Cadet, 86, of Pomona, NY passed away peacefully on September 30, 2019. Emile was born on September 19, 1933 to Simeon Cadet and Anastazila Jean-Francois in Dessalines, Haiti. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He migrated to Queens, New York in 1961. Emile worked at Pan American Airlines for 21 years and retired as a Supervisor in the Cargo Department.
Emile most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also had a passion in traveling, photography, listening to Haitian music and had a knack for solving problems and fixing things. Emile will always be loved and remembered for his kindness, generosity and calmness. The many lives he has touched will treasure his memory.
He was married to Marlene Michaud for 56 years. They had five children they raised in Cambria Heights, New York and Palm Coast, Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Cadet, his children, Edwin, Clarence, Emile, Jr., Patrick and Magda, his sisters, Ghislaine Cadet and Caridad Jean-Francois, his brothers, Serge, Raymond and Richard Cadet, his grandchildren, Varisse Correthers, Tatyana Cadet, Megan Barteau, Anjali Cadet, Olivier and Tristan Desdunes and Patrick Cadet, Jr., his great-grandchild Winter Newark, and also his nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He was predeceased by his brothers Fritz, Antoine, and Jean Cadet, and his sisters Jacqueline, Rolande and Edith Cadet.
A celebration of Emile’s amazing life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019, 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 59 Lafayette St., Suffern, NY. A viewing will be held immediately before the service, between 8:30 - 10:00 am on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Wannamaker and Carlough Funeral Home, 177 NY-59, Suffern, NY.
The family would like to express their thanks to the wonderful care provided by the medical staff at Hackensack University Medical Center. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Emile to Magda Desdunes at PO Box 458, Pomona, NY 10970. All donations collected will be contributed to research related to the prevention of heart disease.
