Frank "Butch" was born on February 21, 1950 in Bronx to Anne St. John and Frank Hagen. He was a devoted step-father, husband and brother, and cherished friend to many. He is survived by sons Robert, Joseph, Carl, Peter, his sister Terry, and his brothers Tommy and David, and loving grandchildren.
Frank will be remembered for his long and dedicated years in the National Guard and Army, his good sense of humor, and giving back to his community. He participated in countless community service organizations, clubs, and projects; a well respected long time member of the American Legion and Lions Club. Also, Frank served the Village of Suffern multiple terms as Village Trustee and one term as its Deputy Mayor.
From a son's perspective, there was never a dull moment when in his company. If asked to lead a "sled ride" post-blizzard in an old plastic boat with family members down a windy road stretching a mile, you can count on our dad to make it happen. We all survived that day with enough laughter to fill a life time and in anticipation for the next adventure. When fun wasn't on the schedule he was there to keep the peace between siblings, and occasionally we’d take a NJ train ride to his army job in the big city of New York. It was a team effort filled with many challenges to raise four boys on life's roller coaster, and because he rarely expressed doubt while always having joy by his side, life is a dauntless ride for us and all who knew him well. Thank you, Dad.
