

Gregory Patrick Slane, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025, in Nyack, NY, at the age of 61. He was born on January 15, 1964, in New York City to Thomas and Beverly (Loftus) Slane.
Gregory is survived by his loving mother, Beverly Slane; his brothers, Thomas Slane and his partner Robin, and Joseph Slane and his wife Jeanine. He will also be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews: Alexandra, Brendan, Joseph, Victoria, and Connor. Gregory was predeceased by his father, Thomas Slane, on April 5, 2021.
In addition to his family, Gregory is survived by his core group of lifelong friends who stood by him through every challenge, offering unwavering support and love throughout his journey. Their loyalty and friendship were a constant source of strength and joy for him, and they too will miss him deeply.
Gregory's life was one of resilience, strength, and deep generosity. At the age of 16, he was involved in an accident that left him a quadriplegic, but despite the physical challenges he faced, he never allowed his disability to hinder his ability to help others. His determination and kindness made him an inspiration to everyone who knew him. Gregory’s generosity was evident in both his personal and professional life. He loved his family deeply and was always there for those in need, never hesitating to offer support.
After graduating from high school, Gregory attended Rockland Community College and later pursued computer programming at a technical school. He worked for many years as a computer programmer at Reader’s Digest in Pleasantville, NY, where he earned the respect of his colleagues and made lasting contributions. His professional success was a testament to his intelligence and perseverance.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Rt. 59, Suffern, NY, from 4 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, 26 John St., Stony Point, NY. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Haverstraw, NY.
Gregory will be deeply missed, but his legacy of perseverance, kindness, and love will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
