

Jeanne Ketly Chery nee Zephir was born on Friday, December 4, 1942 in the Haitian village of Grand-Goave, Haiti to Nicolas Zephir and Laureide Muscadin-Denusca. She and her husband Jean Chery married on Saturday, February 23, 1974 and they had 3 daughters: Fleurette Bruno, Marie Natouchka Alberte Chery and Diana Marjorie Goodwin. She has loved and was loved by all who came into her life. This includes her maternal sisters: Yvonne Dupoux, Gladys Dantes, and deceased sister Gislene Leveille as well as her her parental siblings: Mireille Joseph, Marie Carmelle Martin, Carole, Magarette, Mona Clerge, Nancy Zephir, Nirva, Sadrac, Gerald Zephir, Petrus Zephir and two decreased siblings including Nicole and Raymond Zephir. Her grandchildren: Micah, Brian, Geneva and Francesca. Other extended family including cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends and church members.
Jeanne has always been a hard worker and did many jobs to earn income to support her family. In Haiti she worked as a seamstress, taught small children, sold home-baked goods and was a local actress. She moved with her family to NY, USA in April 1980. She worked as a personal housekeeper before transitioning to the Park Ridge Marriott, where she was known as one of their best workers and was loved by her bosses and coworkers. She retired from Marriott in Aug 2003 and spent the rest of her life in New York. She loved to sing, was a godly and spiritual person, found joy in caring for her family, and was very generous.
Her journey in her present life ended Tuesday, September 24, 2019. She will be missed by her family, friends and church members.
Lessons from Jeanne:

JEAN CHERY
Jean Chery was born on Monday, April 14, 1941 to Constantine Chery and Anna Nouvelle in Grand-Goave, Haiti. He had 2 sisters: Christine Chery and Willie Chery. From a young man to his death he was a friendly, fun and humorous person. He made friends easily, was loved by the community and his co-workers. He married his wife Jeanne K. Chery on Saturday February, 23 1974 and they were together until her death just two weeks before his passing. He had always said if his wife went, he was not too far behind. Jean had 5 children: Fleurette Bruno, Marie Natouchka Alberte Chery, Diana Marjorie Goodwin, Daphine Lahens and deceased son Lucner Larose Chery. He leaves 11 grandchildren including: Roseline, Guerlande, Natacha, Mikelson, Jean Leclerc, Micah, Brian, Geneva, Francesca, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends.
Jean played hard but also worked hard, always looking for better. After moving with his family to NY, USA in April 1980 he held many jobs. He worked delivering newspapers, for an animal food manufacturer, and he retired in April 2018 as a motor equipment operator at the DPW for the Village of Spring Valley. He would often be seen by the townspeople working on Main Street or Memorial Park, keeping the village beautiful. He could often be found at the local Lodge hanging and chatting with friends, he kept a strong bond with Spring Valley Haitian community.
Jean Chery left us on Tuesday, October 7, 2019. He will be missed by those who loved him; his family, his comrades, former coworkers and everyone who knew him.
Things Remembered:
