Our heartfelt sympathies to the family of Sis. Lorna Williams. A true soldier in God’s army is now at rest, awaiting the great reunion of His saints. Lorna, known to many for her hard work and selflessness tirelessly served the Queensboro Temple Church as the Community Services Director. This was not an easy role. It called for determination, dedication, and time to make this a successful and beneficial endeavor to those who benefited. She served in the Education Department. Lorna, being an educator from the island of. Jamaica, played an integral role in the GED program at the church. She had a passion for educating young minds and knew how to reach them. She also worked as an Usher in the church.
When you couldn’t find Lorna at home she was at church, her second home where she carried out her evangelistic roles in rescuing the perishing, caring for the needy, and feeding and sheltering the homeless. She exhibited kindness, patience, empathy and understanding while caring for these individuals. Lorna was gentle, but also a no nonsense person, never rustle her feathers!or else.
God saw that Lorna was getting tired, after her work was done, so He smiled, reached down His hand and softly said, come, lay down my child, lay down and take your rest.

My sincere condolences to you.  We go back many years. I have known Miss Williams as a student at Lacovia  High School  St Elizabeth where she taught for many years before migrating to NY.  To Shelly , Ann, Deval and Shana and other relatives and friends my prayers are with you.
May the Lord grant you peace and strength as you mourn the loss of your mother sister aunt  and grandmother.

Our deepest condolences to the family of Sis. Lorna.  I pray that God will  grant you all the strength and peace  needed to go through this very sad time.  Let’s all remain faithful so we can see  her in the earth made new where there will be no more death and sickness.

Lorna was a member of the Queensboro Temple of Seventh day Adventist Church since its beginning.  In 1994, she was an Usher and quickly became a servant- leader, leading out in various departments of the church.  She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and truly believed in his command to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to everyone.” There were two departments, the Education and the Adventist Community Services departments which were special to her. In the Education department, she organized the GED, After-school and computer classes which lasted for over five years and introduced many members of the community to Christ, better employment and educational opportunities .  To God we Praise. The Community Service was also dear to Lorna.  She spent many hours insuring that she was in compliance with the city and state regulations. This ensured that the Homeless Shelter and the Food Pantry programs continued successfully. Many of the clients said they were treated well with respect and love.  Her legacy continues in our current ACS programs. She left this legacy of service for her family and friends to continue. Queensboro Temple continues to follow her example of being of service to God and man. We thank God for the opportunity to know Lorna and to love her.  May God continue to comfort you, family, friends and members during this time of bereavement.

To the Family of Sis lorna , 
                                      Weeping may endure fir a night but wonderful joy will come in the morning.. I know  Sis Lorna children  were her pride and joy and it hurts to lose a love one especially a parent !! I pray that God will comfort you all in the time of bereavement and bring joy to your heart knowing she’s just sleeping until Resurrection day , where you all will see your mom again , just live in God’s obedience and that will happen .. 
Sis Lorna had been a faithful member of QBT over the years operating the community service and hosting the program for the men who need shelter,  and she was like a mother to them although they were much in their older years than her .. She treat them well and make sure they were taken good care of ..
As a member of QBT she usually was a quiet and laid back member she didn’t talk much , but was well involved in church activities, and she was very nice to the children !! She will be missed greatly!! We had missed her since the very first day when she couldn’t come to church anymore but we continued prayed for her !! 
May she sleep and have good rest until our God calls her name !!

Aunty Lorna had a magical way of bringing people together, her kitchen serving as the heart of our family gatherings during Easter and Christmas times. The aroma of her famous fruit cakes would waft through the air, mingling with the sound of her laughter, creating an environment where everyone felt at home. Cooking was her love language; she poured her heart into every dish she prepared, infusing it with flavors that had our taste buds buzzing. Each meal was more than just food; it was a celebration of family, a gathering where stories were shared and laughter echoed off the walls.

Her jovial spirit was contagious. Conversations with Aunty Lorna were never mundane; they were adventures filled with tales of her childhood memories that had us riveted to her every word. She had a gift for storytelling, weaving her life experiences into narratives that entertained and taught valuable lessons. 

Aunty Lorna was a Christian with good morals and through her calm demeanor and wise words, she taught us the importance of kindness, respect, and integrity. When we strayed off the path, it was her gentle reminders that brought us back, her nurturing approach showing us the way without fear or harshness. She believed in the power of love to shape character, and her influence has left an indelible mark on all of us.

Now, as we reminisce about the times spent with her, our hearts swell with gratitude for the gift of her presence. Each memory, reminds us of the love she poured into our lives. 

While we mourn the loss of our beloved Aunt, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with love, laughter, and culinary delights. We will carry her legacy forward, cherishing the values she instilled in us and keeping her laughter alive in our hearts.

I remember Aunt Lorna always had a warm smile. She was always encouraging, kind and loving.  Aunt Lorna was a dedicated Christian, willing to help anyone in need. She taught me to never give up on what I want to accomplish.  Aunt Lorna was known for her special skills in the kitchen.  She baked the most delicious cakes and as kids (Simone, Gregory and Shane) we were all looking forward for the Jamaican fruit cake at Christmas time.  My dear aunt, I will forever cherish these memories and your influence  and your unwavering kindness lives on through all of us.
