Ludwell Lowden Lillington Dacosta

Born in St. Mary, Jamaica, Ludwell carried the values of his upbringing with him throughout his life — hard work, humility, and quiet strength. He was a steady presence to those who knew him and someone whose calm and measured way left a lasting impression.

Before moving to the United States, Ludwell worked in Jamaica as the Night & Security Manager at the Trelawny Beach Hotel. It was a significant role that reflected his sense of responsibility and leadership, and it became a special place for many family visits over the years. After settling in New York, he continued his career as a Central Laboratory Supervisor for NYU Langone Health. He took pride in his work and earned the respect of his colleagues through his professionalism, calm demeanor, and steady leadership. He did not seek recognition — he simply showed up each day and did what needed to be done.

Ludwell was known for being calm, cool, and collected in every setting. At home, he enjoyed the simple things. He loved cooking and was happiest preparing meals for his family. He was also a skilled and patient Scrabble player, often giving the impression that you might win — though more often than not, he quietly secured the victory. A devoted sports fan, he enjoyed watching games of all kinds and could spend hours following the action.

More than anything, Ludwell valued his family. He is survived by his four children: Dean, Tracey-Ann, Celia, and Kristopher; his two grandchildren, Preston and Matthew; and his two brothers, Michael and Franklin.

A viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a service, on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 NY-59, Suffern, NY 10901. A repass will follow the service.

Though he built his life in New York, Jamaica always remained close to his heart. The values and spirit of the place where he was born stayed with him throughout his life.

Ludwell will be remembered by his family for the steady presence he was in their lives and for the many moments shared together over the years.
