

Michael Conrad Fox, 91, of Pompton Plains, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026. Born on October 26, 1934, in the Bronx, New York, to Michael and Vita Mae Fox. Michael lived a life defined by devotion—to his family, his faith, his country, and his community.
Michael spent his career as a dedicated Police Officer and Detective with the New York City Police Department (NYPD) from 1962 – 1982, protecting and serving the people of New York with integrity and strength. Michael was also a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard serving honorably from 1961 to 1967. After retiring from the NYPD, he spent 15 years heading up security at Fordham University in the Bronx. His commitment to public service reflected his deep sense of responsibility and unwavering character. Michael was a dear friend to many. Always the first to help, lend a hand, and take on a challenge.
Michael was the beloved husband of Felicia Fox who passed in 2021, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. Together, hand in hand, they built a life filled with love, laughter, music, and cherished traditions. Whether enjoying time with family in the neighborhoods in which they lived including their lake home in Lake Wallenpaupack, Michael and Felicia were inseparable, always active and engaged in the world around them.
In addition to building memories, Michael was an incredibly talented woodworker and craftsman. Over the years, he gifted family members with handmade treasures such as chests, blanket holders, benches and more. His woodworking skills also extend to building structures including the impressive 2-car garage and woodworking shop at the family’s beloved lake home.
A devoted father, Michael is survived by his sons, Michael and Robert and Rob’s wife Kristine. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Stephanie, Jonathan and his wife Megan, Jillian and Christopher. Recently he became a great grandfather to Jonathan and Megan’s son Calvin. He also leaves behind many cherished extended family members and friends who will remember his steady presence, warm heart, and quiet strength.
Michael’s life was marked by his loyalty, faith, and deep love for his family. He led by example, offering guidance, protection, and unwavering support to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the family he so deeply treasured.
Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 NY-59, Suffern, New York. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 47 Island Road, Mahwah, New Jersey. Entombment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah, New Jersey.
