William J. Sovak

Budd was born to Michael and Anna (Gulick) Sovak in Bayonne, NJ. He graduated from Suffern High School and Pace University School of Accounting. Budd served as a US Navy Air Force radio gunner in WWII. He was an active volunteer in his community and served in leadership roles for the YMCA Indian Guides and the Cub and Boy Scouts. He was a volunteer fireman with the Hillburn Fire Department for many years and a member of the K of C Joyce Kilmer Council 1177. Budd was an avid fisherman who enjoyed sharing his adventures with all who would listen.

Budd is survived by his beloved wife Cecilia, his three cherished sons John, Joseph (Amy), and W. Sean (Jodie), adored grandchildren, Kellie, Kevin, Kyle, Kerala, and Kiran, caring brothers Alyn, Michael, and Roger Peter, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his beloved maternal aunt, Mary Buckley of Sloatsburg, NY.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11am on Wednesday, August 14th, 2013 St. Boniface Church, Wesley Hills, NY. Entombment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ. Donations can be made in William's name to St. Boniface Church.
