I am Michelle, the eldest grandchild of our dear lola Aida. 

She always says we lookalike. That I am her Ms. Universe as she was Ms. Calinog of her town. 

I am so happy we get to spend time on our family reunion in Florida (also in Qatar and the Philippines) and will miss being roommates with you when I visited Texas. How we sneak to eat, how I always tell you to “try to sleep early lola” as you played games in your ipad until the wee hours and how we simply bond, chat, tell stories and how you give me tips as we share the same back problems. 😔

Thank you for the cross stitches, lola. It will always remind me of you as you thought of me while you do it. It will forever be treasured; and you will always be adored and remembered. 

You are one of the strongest woman I know. You are funny, very smart and responsible. And you are very much loved. 

We will miss you lola, all your prayers and guidance. Your reminders, sweet notes, bible verses, little gifts and knick knacks. Your hugs, kisses and giggles and simply your presence. We will miss how you always bless us and pray for us.

Hi, my name is Arnold ,the eldest son of the family.
   My mom is so a loving mother with lots of cares for us. She teaches us a very religious type of discipline. Since birth up to now, she really take good care of us with lots of hardship and sacrifices.
   She was a mother, a true mother whom I cherished her a lot. But for me, most of all , she was a magnificent mother , a grandmother , a sister , aunt and friend.
   She graced our family and for those of us who knew and loved her, she graced our lives.

The day you left, grieving in the midst of having a get together with friends was hard. I thought about my dad, who loves you and speaks highly of you when we have conversations about his family side, his sister who spent most of her life taking care of you, and his other siblings who visits to assist you. I feel so sad I didn't get the chance to spend some more time with you. I was actually looking forward to you staying in the Philippines on your last few days. I thought I'd read to you while you rest. It was always on my mind. Maybe in the next life, Lola. Thank you for flying and coming to Qatar during my High School graduation day 11 years ago. That was the last time I saw you. I really wish there could've been more. I will always cherish my love and talent for art as I've discovered from dad you were also an artist in the family and I will always remember your zumba sessions even when you're almost in your 80's at that time. I can't imagine living in the world for almost 90 years. I really hope it was great for you. Know that on your death bed, people close to your heart have grieved and come together, setting aside all discords - only love remained. I pray you'd bring all these love with you up in wherever angels like you exist. I love you, Lola Aida.

Anna and I offer my deepest condolences to the Nebres family at this time. Lola Aida was such a caring inspiration to my family as we migrated from Philippines to New Zealand. She was our biggest prayer warrior.

My fondest memories of Lola Aida were during her visit here to New Zealand. We got to spend time with her camping, cooking at home, and exercising with her. 

Lola, I will miss you calling me 'John Lloyd' after watching your teleseryes, cooking my chicken nuggets because I didn't want to watch it, or listening to you sharing about Joel Osteen.

I am blessed to be Mom Aida's son-in-law and to witness how her love, prayers and support have carried her family through life. I learned how to be a Praying Parent from her. She tells me stories about how she prays the Rosary everyday for all her children and Rita tells me stories about how Mom Aida has worked so hard to provide for the family. She has to endure years of separation from them because of work. She inspired me to become a better person, a better husband and a better father.

Mom Aida, thank you for making me your "favorite son-in-law in Auckland." I will miss your joyful spirit that brings us warmth and happiness every time. Our family is not perfect, but it is a good family -- you have raised your children well and we are blessed to be part of it. Your legacy will live on with your grandchildren and now with your great grandchildren (you now have three from us, and still counting). As we fondly call them "mga pakalat in Badong." I will miss our cheat code "once a year lang yan" every time we are faced with the irresistible temptation of unhealthy food (is there really such a thing?)

Lola Aida was a loving mother to all of her wonderful children who dearly miss her.  She sacrificed a lot to support her children by any means necessary.  She spent a lot of time supporting St. Laurence Catholic Church volunteering to assist with Eucharist. She watched several Rockets and Astros games with us while she was here. She bravely fought a hard battle against old age. The world is not the same without you.

My fondest memory of Lola was when she looked after us during the school holidays in NZ.. she showed us her sense of humour and how well she looks after her own health, through her daily exercises and supplements. Lastly, she showed us her unwavering faith by letting us know that she’s praying for us and sending us all these Bible verses and quotes (shout out to Joel Osteen). Lola Aida was one of the strongest prayer warriors of my life. I grew up living most of my life a long distance away from Lola but I always felt comforted in the thought that she was always with me spiritually. She visited us in New Zealand once for a few months and it filled my childhood with loving memories, from our camping trips to spending time at home on school holidays. She was always praying and even promised her grandchildren that she would pray for us all to have a brand new shiny red car! I will always cherish the love and support she gave to me and to my family, especially to my mum. I love you so much Lola Aida, may you rest in peace in the loving embrace of your maker.

My name is Anthony and I’m the youngest son of Lola Aida.
My lasting memories of Aida are simple: a hard working, passionate figure of strength, warm and vibrant, a very very generous woman who always went out of her way to help others, made time for the people she cared about and showed us that family always comes first- no matter what.
Our mom taught us many things as young kids that hold us in good stead today- good manners, respect and sound moral values. These values have made me who I am and I thank her so very, very much. 
As an Adult, she became my best friend and my advisor. Her greatest quality was to encourage me to make the best of everything and to face problems head on. She was a proud woman who believed that there was no obstacle that could not be overcome. She allowed me and Ruby my wife, to get to where we are today by looking after my children during those days when we were starting our family. She was there  during the good times and dark days. For that I am forever grateful and blessed that she was part of our lives and us a part of hers.
I am personally grieving but at the same time celebrating her life through her memories. If there is anything I learned from her, is her SMILE and a very infectious laugh. That's all we need sometimes. I will try to do that more often than the usual. It doesn’t take a lot and not hard to learn. And it will remind me of her for sure. You will be missed by all but your memory will live on in us all forever. It’s a great privilege to write this eulogy to express the sadness that all of us (siblings) share over her loss. Mommy thank you for everything you’ve given us - and the warmth we shared during your precious time on earth.
I am grateful for the love you give me. I love you so much Mommy and will miss you more than words can say. Rest in Peace Aida. God bless you. Always.

To our dearest Ma-Lola Aida,
This has been one of the most difficult things to write. It was only one month ago we met in person and now it is sadly time to say goodbye.  I was really looking forward to see you next year for your 90th I had plans on how I was gonna be sneaking and book it without telling Carms all approved by Elena of course.

Ma-Lola we are going to miss you so much though you have left this Earth to be with Christ please know your legacy of unwavering faith, unconditional love and unstoppable mindset will live on in this generation and all those to come. 

In the short time we were with you I have been blessed with so many incredible memories from going Jolibee which quickly became Elena vs Ma-Lola for the chicken drumstick (Ma-Lola won), to doing PT sessions with you and you trying to smash through all of the exercises because I was taking too long to ask what the next one was, to saying hi to you in the afternoons and you responding with a karate chop sign of the cross blessing (no one else got this maybe she was rebuking... hahah), to talking to you and thanking you for all you did for this family and letting you know how much we treasure this time & that Elena will never forget you because you are the Hero of this family and you have carried so much and that the fruits can be seen so clearly now with how the family has grown across the world and how well everyone is doing. 

I have been talking with Elena everyday about you and she asked me why is Ma-Lola sleeping Daddy? And I told her that Ma-Lola has worked so hard and now gets to rest with Jesus forever. She responded with "with Jesus? OK Daddy Ma-Lola sleep OK with Jesus."

Rest well our Ma-Lola you have achieved so much, you have fought the good fight, and your legacy will never die. May Christ embrace you and receive you into his kingdom. Please continue to watch over us and pray for us. -Love Elena, Viane and Carms

The very first time I met Mommy Aida was when she visited her son-my brother in law, Nonie Anthony Nebres, and my sister Ruby here in Canada. It was about 12 years ago.
I remember her as a beautiful and charming person. She was always smiling and happy full of joy.
After that vacation, one time we called each other. She told me that we had the same interest in sewing.  She did sewing and cross- stitching. I saw the Angels (cross stitching) that she created and I was impressed. It requires a great deal of patience to complete such a project. I tried to follow her example but I didn’t have her patience. 
I will always miss mommy Aida’s talents and great human warmth. 
I know she’s gone to a better place , and hope that one day we’ll be reunited. Rest in peace, Mommy Aida. Love you!
