

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arilda Lirio Aquino-Gucela, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, a devout Catholic, and a dedicated, retired neonatal intensive care unit nurse.
Arilda’s courageous battle with cancer came to an end on April 25, 2026. Arilda was 68 years old. She is loved by her husband, Rex, her daughters and their husbands, Annah and Joel, Antoinette and Shawn, Claudette and David, her granddaughter, Faye, and her siblings Rusola, Ross, Roque, and Maria Cleofe.
Arilda’s nurturing spirit, unwavering support, and boundless love will forever live on in the hearts of her children. Arilda was a brilliant and accomplished woman. Her passion for nursing and her dedication to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Providence inspired those around her. Arilda’s colleagues and friends remember her as a tireless worker and a mentor to many in her field.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Arilda was known for her cooking and caring personality. She had a generous heart, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Arilda’s memory will be forever cherished by her family, friends, and colleagues. Her legacy as a mother, grandmother, NICU Nurse, and friend will endure, and her spirit will continue to inspire us all. In our hearts, she lives on, and we will forever honor the legacy of a remarkable woman who made a lasting impact on the world.
A memorial service to celebrate Arilda’s life will be held on May 23 at 11:00 AM at The Guardian Angel Catholic Church located at 3021 Frupas Avenue, El Paso, Tx, 79905, with a reception following at 12:00PM
