LTC Claude L. Donaldson, USA, Retired, 87 died peacefully on July 16, 2017 in the greater Houston, Texas area after recently relocating there from Warminster, Pennsylvania. LTC Donaldson was born on October 4, 1929 in Queens Village, New York to John and Helene Donaldson. He graduated from Chatham High School in Chatham, New Jersey in 1948. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army and was later commissioned as an Officer. He obtained his College Degree from University of The Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas in 1960 while on active duty.
LTC Donaldson was a career Army Officer in Military Intelligence. He was a decorated Soldier who served his Country honorably in various overseas locations including Germany, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. Upon retirement from the Army, he began a second career with the U.S. Social Security Administration and subsequently retired from there as well, after many years of government service. Throughout his life, he was involved in many civic and philanthropic activities. He did volunteer work with AARP, Habitat for Humanity and many other organizations. He was a member of the Newtown Presbyterian Church, in Newtown, Pennsylvania for many years. He was also a recent resident at Ann’s Choice in Warminster, Pennsylvania.
LTC Donaldson is survived by his sons Mark, Barry and Scott; his daughter Karen; his nine grandchildren and his ten great-grandchildren and his sister, Betty Neblock. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Turner Donaldson and his second wife, Margaret Brooks Donaldson. A private burial with Military Honors will take place on July 29, 2017 at McKendree Cemetery in Subiaco, Arkansas.
