

Constance “Connie” Annette LePard Gunn, passed away unexpectedly on December 6, 2015 at her home in Sugar Land, Texas. Connie was born on October 4, 1946, in Flint, Michigan, to Donald and Helen LePard. She graduated in 1967 with a Bachelors of Arts in English from University of Hawaii and immediately began her teaching career in Fairfax County, Virginia. She married her soulmate, David, on June 16, 1968, and they were happily married for 47 years. After being stationed in Big Sur, California for two years, they returned to Northern Virginia. She retired from teaching in 2005 and moved to the Houston, Texas area with her family in 2006. Connie was a woman with so many special talents. She loved to share her gifts and knowledge by making everything a teachable moment. Her laughter was infectious and she could always be counted on to help family or friends through problems. She was known for her party planning and her ability to welcome anyone into her home. She loved to spend time with her family, to make quilts and stained glass windows, to read and cook and to cuddle with her dogs. She is survived by her husband, David Gunn; her daughter, Aimee Gunn; her grandson, Connor David Brasington; and her dogs Jack Black, Robbie Turbo, Penny and Taffy. Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Helen LePard. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 10 AM to 11 AM at the The Settegast-Kopf Company at Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, TX 77478, with the funeral service starting at 11 AM and a reception to follow. Burial will be held following the reception at the Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer a donation made in her name to Jamie’s Animal Rescue, as she was an avid supporter of rescuing animals and had recently rescued a pitbull in May 2015 from this wonderful organization.
