DeAnna Carol Lloyd Lawrence, a cherished resident of Landon Ridge in Sugar Land, Texas, passed away February 3, 2026 at the grand age of 88. Born March 26, 1937, DeAnna was a woman of extraordinary patience, cheerful countenance, and love of family.
She is united in death with her husband Norman Charles Lawrence and son Randy Lawrence, as well as her parents Clyde Gilbert Lloyd and Lois May Parks Lloyd and siblings Eric Lloyd and Gary Lloyd. She is survived by siblings Lianne Lloyd Taylor and sister-in-law Ruth Benien. DeAnna was a devoted mother and is survived by several children and their spouses: son-in-law Paul Alfieri, daughters Alica Lawrence Olson (widow of Robert Olson), Megan Petrovic, Michele Lawrence and husband Ray Waters, and son John Lawrence. She is also survived by grandchildren Athena Brown, Seamus Joyce and wife Tarah, Heather Whyte and husband Andrew, Patrick Joyce, Dylan Petrovic, Donovan Petrovic, BriAnna Petrovic, Jillian Waters, and Alexandra Waters, as well as 7 great grandchildren.
DeAnna was born in Defiance, Ohio and met the love of her life Norman there. As a proud US Navy spouse, DeAnna was accustomed to moving quite often and called several states home throughout her life. During her time as a Naval spouse, she was very active in the Navy Wives Club of America.
Upon Norman's retirement from the Navy, DeAnna and Norman settled in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, Chicago, Illinois, and then finally relocating to San Antonio, Texas where DeAnna learned to appreciate TexMex but still added ketchup. After Norman's passing she moved to Sugar Land.
DeAnna never spoke ill about anyone and always looked for the good in others. As the family matriarch, however, her silent stare often said more than any cross word could ever convey.
DeAnna was an avid cruiser and loved casinos. Even when not on a cruise, she woutd frequent casinos in Chicago, Las Vegas, and Louisiana. Slot machines were her favorite, and she didn't care if she lost too much money so long as she saw the bonus games every now and then. She even had a slot machine in her own house. It was rigged; the house always won.
In the years that followed Norman's passing, DeAnna made numerous friends in the Landon Ridge community and was a frequent winner of weekly Trivia and Bingo games. She swears she did not cheat at any of them. She also adamantly continued her late husband's tradition of Sunday morning breakfast at a restaurant with as many of the family that could assemble. She always insisted on paying for every meal and never knew her family secretly paid the bill anyway.
The family is planning a celebration of life in San Antonio, which will be announced at a later date.
