

JAMES (“Jim” or “Bo”) QUINTON DEARING, age 73, of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013. He was born December 18, 1939, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late Quinton William and Dora Lawson Dearing. Jim graduated from West Columbia High School in 1958, and later from Sam Houston State College in 1962 with a Business Administration Degree in Banking. He attended Navy basic training in San Diego, CA, in 1962. Jim’s career spanned 48 years in the banking industry. He worked at CIT Finance, South Main Bank, Houston Bank and Trust, Bank of the Southwest, Mercantile Bank/Allied Bank, First National Bank of Texas, Park National Bank/Frost National Bank, State Bank of Texas, Sterling Bank, and Bank of Fort Bend. He retired in Sept. 2010.
Jim is survived by his wife of 33 years, Robin Dearing of Sugar Land, TX; daughters, Jennifer Rubens and her husband Harold of Nashville, TN, and Carrie Brown and her husband Baron of Sugar Land, TX; sister, Nita Kennemer and her husband Everet of Canyon, TX; brother-in-law, Colin Robinson and his wife Edelia of Sugar Land; granddaughters, Brianna, Amber, and Gabriela Rubens, Jessica Dannemann, and Haley and Jadyn Brown; and nieces and nephews, Everet Kennemer IV and his wife Tonya, Liz Carver and her husband Jim Bob, Danny Robinson and his wife Gabby, Jennifer Henderson and her husband Marcus, and Conor Robinson.
Although known as “Bo” to his childhood family and friends in West Columbia and “Jim” to his family and colleagues in Houston, he was known to all as a great son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend! As a young man growing up Jim enjoyed playing the sports of the 50’s, including football, baseball, basketball, and track. In his later years he was fond of spending time outdoors with friends and family, hunting, fishing, and camping. In recent years he and Robin were able to enjoy traveling all over the US. He was always challenged by business ventures and took great pride in spending time with his six granddaughters.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, October 7, 2013, at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land (Williams Trace Exit). Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 8, 2013, in the Chapel at Sugar Creek Baptist Church, 13213 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land. Interment will follow at Columbia Cemetery, in West Columbia, TX.
