Born July 9, 1947, in Morganfield, Kentucky, he was raised in Gary, Indiana and lived in a number of locations before settling in Sugar Land in 1994. He graduated from Horace Mann High School in Gary, received his BSME from Purdue, and his MSBA from Indiana University. Jim worked for Chevron until retiring in 2012, and was a member of a number of technical societies including ASME, ASTM, PIP, and SSPC.
Survivors include his wife of forty-five years, Connie; and his mother, Grace K. Offutt. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Steven O. Offutt, in 2008.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, April 12, 2014, at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land (Williams Trace Exit).
