Janice “Sue” Frewin, age 82, passed away peacefully in her home in Frisco, Texas on May 15, 2024. Her absence from this world leaves a gap too wide to express, but thankfully only means a gain to the eternal of a truly beautiful soul.
Sue was born on August 17, 1941 to Vera and Luther Wilkerson in Gorman, Texas. She was the oldest of four total siblings: Kenneth Wilkerson, Sherry Wilkerson Parker, and Jimmy Wilkerson. Sue and her family moved to Houston when she was just 10 years of age, and it would remain her beloved hometown for the next 70 years. She graduated from Smiley High School in 1959.
An accomplished administrator and clerk, Sue shined brightly at the Law Firm of Fulbright and Jaworski for 20 years before retiring. Through mutual friends still connected to this day, Sue met her future husband Norman P. Frewin in the fall of 1971, and quickly fell in love with both Norm and his toddler son Greg. They married December 6, 1974, and enjoyed just under 43 years of marriage together. Initially settling in Bellaire, they moved to Sugar Land, Texas in 1986. They would do everything together, enjoying traveling, watching the Oilers/Texans and Astros, visiting friends or family locally or afar, and hosting many a lively party with competitive volleyball, golf, shuffleboard, pool, and paddle boat racing (only minimally affected by the always flowing margarita machines). Sue was a loving mother figure to her bonus son, Greg, as well as her daughter-in-law of 31 years, Erin. She also loved being a grandmother, spoiling her grandson Evan with her ever-present attention and thoughtfulness, sneaking him snacks and treats long after he was supposed to be in bed.
Sue was the most loyal, generous, and thoughtful friend/family member for which anyone could ask. It is a longstanding joke that you could never say you were looking at something you were interested in or comment about anything you liked that she had, or she would try to give it to you immediately. She truly needed nothing from anyone and yet gave everything she had to anyone she came across. An avid reader who loved a good suspense novel, she was known by her friends as either Sweet Sue or Saint Sue, always ready to offer patience, encouragement or forgiveness with no questions asked. Faithfully social with the best friends and family anyone could know, she enjoyed playing Bunco, attending a football or baseball game (Go Astros), or watching concerts and theater. After becoming a widow in 2014, Sue eventually moved to Frisco, Texas in early 2021 to be closer to her son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. Sue loved all the shopping Frisco had to offer, and looked forward to the times when her friends or sister would come visit, wherein she could quickly convince them to do the Tour of Stores "just for a couple of things." Always a hard worker, she also loved to relax with facials and having an adult beverage while getting her nails done with her sister and daughter in-law.
Sue is survived by her son Greg, her daughter-in-law Erin, their son Evan, her sister Sherry and brother-in-law Jerry, her brothers Kenneth and Jimmy, her sisters-in-law Rosemary (AJ) and Joan, her brother in law John, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families- all of whom she made feel like each were her favorites. Sue was preceded in death by her husband Norm, her beloved nephew Jeff, her brother in law Roger Dowdall, her parents Vera and Luther Wilkerson, as well as her much-loved Frewin in-laws Norman, Cecelia, and Mary.
Pallbearers honoring Sue are: Boone Smith, Kenny Wilkerson, David Perkins, Wes Harris, John Dowdall, and Jimmy Dowdall.
