Born on May 7, 1950, in Wood River, Illinois, John was the beloved son of Eldon and Bernadine Farris. He graduated from Forest Park High School and furthered his education at San Jacinto College.
John proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from July 1969 to May 1971, an experience that instilled in him the strength and dedication he carried throughout his life. Following his military service, John had a successful career for over 35 years as a Software Engineer at Texas Instruments Inc., where his technical skills and work ethic were highly valued.
John will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and strong spirit, coupled with a wonderful, sometimes "goofy," and always present sense of humor. He was a dedicated sports fan, faithfully cheering on his beloved Houston Aeros, Astros, and Texans. He enjoyed bowling and, above all, loved the outdoors. Nothing brought John more joy than being able to hunt and fish with his brother, Bill, and his sons and daughter, Johnny, Patrick, Charlie and Kaitlin, creating treasured family memories.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra Farris; his loving children, Johnny Farris, Patrick Farris and his wife Sallie, Charlie Farris and his wife Jamie, and Kaitlin Farris. John was a proud grandfather to three grandchildren: Annabelle, Evan, and Cameron. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Barefield and her husband Wayne, his sister-in-law, Stephanie Farris, and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his father, Eldon Farris; his mother, Bernadine Farris; and his brother, Bill Farris.
