

Katherine Henry Hill, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, at Cinco Ranch ASCC in Katy, Texas.
Born on October 19, 1930, on the family farm outside Tahoka, Texas, Katherine was the second of seven children of George and Daisy Henry. Her early life on the farm instilled in her the values of hard work and community that she carried throughout her long, fulfilling life.
A lifelong Christian and devoted member of University Park Baptist Church since 1978, Katherine’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She touched many lives with her warmth and kindness, whether through her work as a librarian’s assistant at Jones Elementary in Missouri City, where she served until her retirement, or in her personal passions. Known as a true West Texas lady, she had a talent for cooking, sewing, quilting, and crocheting, and she found great joy in gardening. Her love for her family, church, and friends was evident in all that she did.
Katherine was married to her beloved husband, Surman (S.E.) Hill, with whom she shared 71 years of marriage. She is survived by her children, Gary Hill (Sally) of Houston, Texas and Jana Selchow (Bosco) of Douglas, Arizona; her grandchildren, Ben Hill (Meredith) of Houston, Texas, Meghan Selchow Dicks (Kevin) of Quincy, Illinois, Jordan Selchow (Tiffany) of Gold Canyon, Arizona, and Austin Hill (Ingrid) of Houston, Texas; and her great-grandchildren, Hayes Katherine Selchow, Kaylee Elizabeth Hill, and Liam Surman Hill. She also leaves behind her sister, Loretta Haire and brother-in-law, Charles Haire, of Lubbock, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 7 at Memorial Oaks Cemetery at noon. Attendees will gather at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home before processing to the gravesite at 11:45 AM. All who wish to celebrate Katherine’s remarkable life are welcome.
Katherine Henry Hill will be remembered for her loving spirit, her dedication to her family, and her unwavering faith. Her legacy of kindness and strength will continue to inspire all who knew her.
