Beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Lilliana Torres Del Castillo, went home to be with The Lord, September 26, 2019 at "Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care." Born, November 14, 1929, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, Lilliana immigrated to Houston, Texas in 1972.
She's survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Bobby Mathew; their two children, David and Esther Mathew; her son and daughter-in-law, Arturo and Marifel Malacara; their three children and spouses, David and Linda Malacara, Vanessa and Branden Cason, Joshua and Audrey Malacara; Great grandchildren, Jonathon, Thomas Jay, and Elizabeth Malacara; and Caleb, Payton, Mackenzie Cason.
At an early age Lilliana showed an ability to compose poems, write stories and essays. Later, this ability led to a career in Journalism while in Mexico where she worked for three different newspapers and radio stations. Her love for the written word and her work experience allowed her to publish the first fully Spanish newspaper, "El Presente" soon after settling in Houston, Texas.
Lilliana was a dedicated mother and grandmother who trusted in the faithfulness of God for every aspect of her life. With wisdom, generosity, and kindness, she counseled and helped those she met.
Having trusted Christ as her Savior, at an early age, she exemplified a life of dependence on God in spite of difficult circumstances. She will be remembered as a committed Christian, saved by grace who loved and trusted her heavenly Father!
