Maria Juventina “Juvie” Siegfried passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on February 15, 2026. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Above all else, Juvie was deeply committed to her family, her faith, and the people she loved.
Born in Laredo, Texas on June 18, 1933, Juvie was preceded in death by her brothers Rafael Gonzalez and his wife, Juanita and Florencio Gonzalez and his wife, Olivia, and by her sister, Maria Guadalupe “Lupe” Cronin and her husband, Dennis Cronin.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Edward (Ed) Siegfried and their seven children: Julie (Rudy) Acosta; Elizabeth (Liz) Wood (James); Joseph Edward (Ed) Siegfried Jr. (Mireya); Robert (Bob) Siegfried; Richard (Rick) Siegfried (Amy); Susanne (Susan) Wilson (Craig); and William (Bill) Stockbridge (Greg). She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Juvie met her husband in 1951 in their hometown of Laredo, Texas. After Ed’s service in the United States Marine Corps (1952–1955), they married in October 1958 and shared 67 years of marriage rooted in love, adventure, and family.
Juvie earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Texas Woman’s University in 1954. She taught elementary school in the different places she lived. She continued her professional growth, earning her Bilingual/ESL certification in 1992 and Early Childhood certification in 1993 from the University of Houston. Although she enjoyed teaching, her heart was always centered on her family.
Ed’s career as a petroleum engineer led the family from Texas to New Mexico and overseas. They lived in Comodoro Rivadavia and Buenos Aires, Argentina, as well as Milan, Italy, and Madrid, Spain. Along the way, they welcomed seven children and built a warm, welcoming home in every place they lived.
In Argentina, Juvie was known for her hospitality and involvement in school projects, bowling, book clubs, bridge games, long lunches, and traditional asados with her friends and family. A wonderful cook, she was especially known for her chicken envueltos, baked beans, Spanish rice, picadillo, arroz con pollo, potato salad, fried chicken, and apple pie.
After returning to the United States, Juvie and Ed settled in Sugar Land, Texas. Juvie explored her creative side through oil and chalk painting, leaving behind artwork cherished by her children. She was a founding member of St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land, Texas, where her faith remained central to her life.
Juvie also enjoyed reading, keeping up with People magazine, following the Houston Astros and Rockets, watching The Young and the Restless and her Spanish novelas and loved eating out with her husband, family and friends.
Juvie will be remembered for her smile, laugh, sense of humor, honest candor, steady presence, faith, and deep devotion to her family. She moved through life with an easygoing spirit and quiet generosity, touching many lives along the way.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to The Auberge at Sugar Land for their compassionate care and comfort during Juvie’s final days.
She will be deeply missed.
