Ronald “Kent” Armstrong, 55 years young, of Sugar Land, TX, went to be with the Lord on February 4, 2017. He was born in Houston, TX on August 25, 1961. He graduated from Dobie High School and like Kent, uniquely decided to put himself straight to work for Lonestar Gas. Never slowing down, he hit the ground running for many years to come. He continued to this way into an industry in a city labeled as the hub for oil & gas which became an opportunity that Kent wouldn’t allow to pass him up. He jumped in with both feet giving him the chance to touch many hearts along the way. He always took chances and work was never ‘work’ for him, but it was what he loved to do. Some can say they have successful careers, while not many can say they were successful with the full package or what many call ‘The American Dream’. Those chances dredged with many hours a day gave his ‘meetings’ new meanings and also what would grow to be life-long friendships turning to a second family. Centerpoint Energy is where he recently (about 4 years ago) put his career path on hold to get over this bump in the road for Kent; his battle to live a healthy life again; all the while never complaining or without starting each day with a huge goofy, heart filled smile on his face that never dissipated! He was an avid hunter of all kinds, fisherman, pool volleyball player, golfer, and truly anything that involved being social with his work friends, second family, or his own family! He also was a great stylist (to two girls who never went a day without a matching hair bows and ruffled socks galore to match), was the first person at the doors Saturday morning to run errands or make a sale. Whether it was looking at guns, or shopping for his youngest wedding dress, he made sure to never miss a beat! Overall best partner for anything, but one of his favorites hats to wear was as a ‘food connoisseur’, lunch partner etc.; truly he was never opposed to doing anything or trying something new, but as long as it was something that warmed his loved ones hearts. He lived his life what many would call ‘paying it forward’, but that just came natural to him. A heart as big as his inspired more than he will know and is definitely what made him the best being he could be! After a list like that, you’d think it would be difficult to continue his list of passions, but the one thing that made his heart flutter more than anything were his two girls; Kenna Armstrong & Kayla Armstrong, now, Kayla Kasperek. Carol Armstrong and Kent got married while they were both in their early twenties and thus Kent received his proudest gift of all: his children; whom always & forever will be his two little girls. His loving daughters, Kenna Armstrong and Kayla Kasperek, along with her husband Ryan Kasperek, survived him. Also survived by his two brothers Randy Armstrong and his wife Cathy Armstrong; Rusty Armstrong and his wife Heather Armstrong; his beloved sister Lisa Coffman and survived by his loving Mother, Judy Hess, all listed whom he spent his life consumed with making memories showing us that we are the lucky ones; lucky because God gave him to us. Time was something Kent never wasted or let get in the way of making all of us laugh until our stomachs hurt. Kent never met a stranger and truly never have I met anyone who didn’t love to be around him! He was truly someone with rare charm full of contagious love & laughter. He was and will continue to be so special to so many of us and his will to live was something definitely that isn’t easy to describe, but something more so that you could feel. His faith and love for his family is what he lived for, while of course, reminding the rest of us what life is all about. Now we shall celebrate Kent’s love for life and spread his passion of always doing something for others and never for himself. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at The Settegast-Kopf Company @ Sugar Creek.
