Born on January 21, 1946, in San Juan, Texas, Ruben was the eldest son of the Pedro and Manuela Garza. He graduated from Sam Houston State University and earned a degree in Accounting.
Ruben had a distinguished career as a Supervisor at Lyondell Petrochemical Refinery, where he was admired for his integrity, dedication, and perseverance.
After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served in the Special Forces to become a Green Beret in the 1960s.
Ruben is survived by his daughter, Marisela Garza; and his siblings, Rosie Peloquin, Richard Peloquin, Johnny Garza, Marie Rayburn, Paul Crane, Pete Garza Jr., Carmen Garza, Lucy Martin, Angie Cook; and in abundance of nieces and nephews that truly loved him.
