A Jennings native, Dr. Richert had been a resident of Sulphur, Louisiana, for over 50 years. After graduating from Jennings High School, he attended Louisiana State University and Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, and received his M.D. at LSU Medical School in New Orleans. Throughout his education, he was accompanied by his loving wife, Dale Comeaux Richert. In medical school he met his close friend and business partner, the late Dr. Roger Grimball, Sr.
Dr. Richert enjoyed a life full of family, community, service and adventure. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, biking, and coaching his children’s sports. He loved to travel with his family and to experience new places together. He loved sharing meals and making memories around the table. He cherished and respected his patients and staff, and drew happiness from them over his nearly 40-year medical practice at the Grimball and Richert Clinic.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dale Comeaux Richert of Sulphur; his children Dr. Allen Carl Richert, Jr., and wife Dr. Jan Richardson of Ridgeland, Mississippi, Lorena Anne Romero and husband Danley of Sulphur, Christopher Bret “Bubba” Richert of Land O’ Lakes, Florida, and Dr. Arthur Eldridge Richert, Sr., and wife Sadye of Monroe; his brother Arthur Richert, Jr., of Slidell; fifteen grandchildren Juliette Richert, Claire Richert, Allen Richert III, Theresa Romero (Jordan Peota), Danley Romero III, Adele Richard (William), Michael Romero, Lucy Romero, Amelia Romero, James Richert, Nathan Richert, May Richert, Eugenie Richert, Arthur Richert Jr., and Virginia Richert; and one great-granddaughter, Clélie Richard. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Sr. and Lorena Richert; and his siblings, Barbara Richert Ivey, Charles Richert, Jerry Richert, and Dr. Albert Richert, Sr.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixon-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be in the church hall from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A rosary service will be held at 10:30 a.m. His family expresses their deepest thanks to everyone who made Dr. Richert’s life bright and full, to the staff of West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital, and to Allegiance Healthcare for their excellent care of Dr. Richert in his final days.
