

SULPHUR-Funeral services will be held at 2pm. on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur for Bernice Myers Chiasson, who died peacefully on September 12, 2013 surrounded by loved ones. She was 88 years old. Reverend Aubrey Guilbeau will conduct the services. Interment will be at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss, Louisiana.
She is survived by two daughters Mickey C. Trouth and husband Michael of Sulphur, Yvonne C. Landry and husband Gene of Lafayette; son, Bobby Chiasson and wife Charlene of Sulphur. She leaves five grandchildren - Gene Landry II, Jackie L. Longman and her husband Greg, Mike Trouth and wife Amy, Tiffany Chiasson and Matt Chiasson and wife Joanna; six great grandchildren - Tanner Trouth, Trent Trouth, Jeff Longman, Jack Longman, Gabriel Chiasson and Jayden Chiasson. She is also survived by one sister, Lee Tanner and one brother, William Myers, both of Crowley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion M. Chiasson; her parents, Theophile and Estelle Myers; one sister, Beatrice Simon; and two brothers, Claude Myers and Dewey Myers.
Bernice was affectionately known as "Sugar" to her friends and family, and "Meme" to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a native of Midland, Louisiana but moved with her husband, Marion, after World War II to Maplewood where he started his career with Cities Service. As a young wife and mother, Bernice embraced her new live. She and Marion were charter members of the present day Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
The family request that visitation be observed at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, September 14 from 5 - 8 p.m. A rosary will be held on Saturday at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Sunday, September 15 from 12 -1:45p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Gene Landry II, Mike Trouth, Matt Chiasson, Jeff Longman, Tanner Trouth and Greg Longman. Honorary pallbearers will be Trent Trouth, Jack Longman and Gabriel Chiasson.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lacey Cavanaugh, Dr. Brian Stewart and the staffs of Cornerstone Hospital and Stonebridge Place for the care of their mother during her illness.
