

She was a native of Hackberry and had been a resident of Sulphur for over 60 years. Bernice worked as a Nurse's Aid for 30 years for West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. She enjoyed fishing, flower gardening, taking care of her grand-dogs, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Vernon J. Davis of Sulphur; her children, Debra A. Lawson of Westlake, Vernon "Andy" Davis and wife, Dee of Sulphur, Brian Edward Davis and wife, Kathy of Sulphur, and Charles "Chuck" Davis and wife, Veronica of Cove, Texas; her siblings, Theresa Adams of Forsythe, Missouri, and Roy Vaussine of Sulphur; ten grandchildren, Andrea Davis, Robert Davis, Brian D. "Danny" Davis, Christopher Davis, Rachel Gibbons, Trista McKenzie, Deanna Carter, Hunter Davis, Austin Davis, and Brooke McBride; eighteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Cecile Vaussine; siblings, Leona Peveto, Joyce Gray, and Edward Vaussine; and a granddaughter, Felicia Willis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 10, in Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. The Rev. Bino Francis, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Friday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and will resume at noon on Saturday in the funeral home.
