Birdie Ann Campbell, 81, of Sulphur, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. She was born to her late parents, Emile and Amelia Touchet on February 16, 1944 in Crowley, Louisiana. She was a 1962 graduate of Crowley High School. Birdie also worked as the department manager at JCPenney in Lake Charles for half of her working career. The remainder of her career was spent as the store manager for Cellular One. She loved to spend time with her family and friends, and was an excellent baker. Her biscuits and coconut cake were legendary. Birdie was truly the life of the party and never met a stranger. She had a heart of gold and was such a giving person. Those who had the privilege of knowing her, were very lucky. Birdie was the greatest wife and mother, and the true heart of the family.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Lawrence Joseph Campbell; children, Melissa Dawn Cole (Taylor) of Sunset, South Carolina and Dwayne Paul Campbell (Darlene) of Carlyss, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Joseph Paul Campbell, Shane Preston Campbell, and Alexia Ann Cole; along with three sisters, Wanda Jean Williams of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mary Alice Chaisson of Carlyss, Louisiana, and Deanna Hargrave of Lafayette, Louisiana.
A Celebration of Birdie's life will be held at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home in Sulphur, Louisiana on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 1:00 pm, with Bro. Al Woodard officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Monday, from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be at Mimosa Pines South Cemetery in Carlyss, Louisiana.
