

Our father was an angel on Earth, always there to comfort or encourage, to lend a helping hand, or just be with you awhile. He was a special man whose love and caring seem to have no end – he was a teacher and supporter, he was our father and lifelong friend. We treasure the value of our father’s love.
Caffery Paul Cormier, 80, died Saturday, November 16, 2013, in a local hospital.
He was a native of Pine Island where he was raised with his three brothers, and had been a resident of Sulphur for 58 years. Caffery worked at PPG for 40 years before his retirement five years ago. He enjoyed the simple things in life. His passion was his garden where he raised green onions. He loved French music, and he and his wife, Shirley were frequent visitors to the Cajun dancehalls throughout Southwest Louisiana. Caffery was a member of Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church.Survivors include his four children, Kenneth Cormier of Mermentau, Carolyn Cormier of Baton Rouge, Patrick Cormier of Saudi Arabia, and Carlton Cormier and wife, Ruela of Sulphur; and his three grandchildren, Kenneth Cormier Jr., Matthew Berthelot, and Taylor Cormier. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Cormier; and his three brothers, Kirby Cormier, Alfred Cormier, and Ronald Cormier.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, in Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. Deacon Johnny Mounce' will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and will resume at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
